The IMMERSE Symposium was held on February 7th and 8th at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This symposium aims to outline key research that is being conducted in immersive technologies, applications, and human experiences. The Illinois team for CREATE Project 1 Virtual Reality (VR) to Support Cognitive Health and Engagement and Socialization Among Aging Adults presented a poster titled “Leveraging Presence to Support Social Connectivity for Older Adults”. They described the human factors-based development of a suite of VR-based applications that focus on cognitive, social, and activity engagement. This included not only creating a multiplayer environment, but also improving user experience for older adults.
