Dr. Boot organized a skill-building workshop titled “Developing Technology for Older Adults with and without Cognitive Impairments” at the American Psychological Association (APA) convention on August 8th. This workshop focused on equipping participants with the critical skills necessary to design and implement technology-based interventions to support aging populations, including those with cognitive impairments. Drs. Boot, Charness, Czaja, and Rogers addressed key considerations in human-computer interaction and emphasized the importance of understanding the unique needs of older adults in technology development. Attendees explored methods for creating user-friendly technologies to enhance daily living and promote autonomy in older adults, particularly those experiencing cognitive decline. This workshop was part of CREATE’s broader mission to advance the integration of assistive technologies into the lives of older adults.
