Dr. Renato Ferreira Leitao Azevedo and his colleagues published a paper titled “Evaluating effectiveness of mHealth apps for older adults with diabetes: meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials” in the Journal of Medical Internet Research. This study was supported by Dr. Azevedo’s CREATE Pilot Grant for Trainees. The meta-analysis of approximately 4,000 studies showed that mHealth apps were effective in improving glycemic control, although the evidence was limited.
