The Center for Research and Education on Aging and Technology Enhancement (CREATE) invites you to a two-day workshop entitled Designing for Older Adults with Cognitive Impairment, May 1–2, 2025, in New York, NY.
A key focus of the workshop will be exploring how each stage of the design process — ranging from needs assessment to usability testing to efficacy evaluation—can be adapted to include older adults with a range of cognitive abilities, including those with cognitive impairment. A highlight of the workshop will be actionable guidelines and best practices for designing for older adults, emphasizing inclusivity, and addressing varying needs, preferences, and abilities of older adults with cognitive diversity. Real-world case studies from CREATE will be integrated throughout the sessions to illustrate practical design challenges and the strategies used to overcome them. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of Designing for Older Adults: Case Studies, Methods, and Tools.
Attendees will be from industry, academia, and research organizations. Together we will explore innovative solutions for program and product design. The event provides a platform for attendees to share their experiences, tackle challenges, and exchange perspectives on the future of inclusive design in this field. This promises to be a highly interactive and collaborative event.
The workshop fee is $1,200, with a discounted rate of $800 for students and postdoctoral fellows. Attendees are responsible for their travel and accommodation costs. Meals during the workshop will be provided. On the first evening, we will host a reception and dinner, offering an excellent opportunity for networking and informal interaction. Hotel recommendations in the area will be shared closer to the event date.
