CREATE held its seventh workshop on May 1st and 2nd in New York, entitled “Designing for Older Adults with Cognitive Impairment.” Drs. Czaja, Boot, Charness, and Rogers shared their research and methods with attendees who traveled from various regions of the U.S. for this workshop. The topics included an overview of aging and cognitive impairment, user-centered design considerations, challenges of and strategies for recruitment, principles of usability trials, and human factors methods and resources, all accompanied by case examples from CREATE research. Attendees were active participants in the discussion and enjoyed opportunities for networking with each other and with CREATE members. Disseminating study findings, methods, tools, and practical lessons from research experience is an essential objective of CREATE.
