The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is hosting a webinar series on modern retirement practices for researchers. Titled “Redefining retirement in academia series”, the first session was held on September 25th, featuring Dr. David J. Ekerdt. Dave is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Kansas and Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America, who also serves as a member of the CREATE External Scientific Advisory Board. He presented expectations regarding retirement, lifestyle options, and the mindset toward ongoing scientific and scholarly engagement. Dr. Wendy Rogers is scheduled to present in the same series as a speaker in Spring 2026, with Carrie Wennerdahl, MS, on “Illinois as an Age-Friendly University”.
