The Illinois site had a special guest in October: Dr. Neil Charness, CREATE PI, Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Charness serves on the review committee for the Beckman Institute and was in town for their meeting. During his week-long visit to Urbana-Champaign, the Illinois site personnel had the pleasure of meeting and discussing research with Dr. Charness. Dr. Raksha Mudar (CREATE Investigator) hosted a breakfast meeting for Dr. Charness with her Aging & Neurocognition Laboratory. He was invited to the McKechnie Family LIFE Home research facility where CREATE research is conducted. After a tour of the facility, Pallabi Bhowmick (CREATE Project 1 and CREATE Pilot Grant recipient), Shafiqul Islam (CREATE Pilot Grant recipient), and Yue “Zoey” Hu (visiting scholar) met with him to discuss CREATE-related research. Dr. Charness joined the meeting of the Health Technology faculty that included Dr. Avi Gupta (CREATE Investigator) and Dr. Shannon Mejia (CREATE Pilot Grant recipient). The image is from the Human Factors and Aging Laboratory dinner with Dr. Charness on October 30th, which Dr. Dan Fisk (original CREATE Investigator) and Dr. Tim Hale joined. It was wonderful opportunity for the Illinois personnel and students to get to discuss research collaborations with Dr. Charness.
