The McKechnie Family LIFE Home at the Illinois site hosted an Open House on April 25, 2026 from 2:00–5:00 PM. This event highlighted innovative research and development taking place at the McKechnie Family LIFE Home. It was an opportunity for the guests to interact with researchers, view demonstrations, and learn how human-centered technologies can support older adults and people with disabilities in everyday life. CREATE research was represented.  The Project 1 team prepared a virtual reality space, where guests could engage with the applications we are going to be using in the upcoming field trial.  The Project 3 team presented a poster about student member contributions to the Medicare decision-making project as well as the binder that contained the Medicare Information Materials CREATE has developed (https://create-center.org/resources/medicare-information-materials/). Dr. Wendy Rogers had the opportunity to introduce research to Illinois State Senator Paul Faraci.

The McKechnie Family LIFE Home is a home-simulation research center where CREATE teams conduct research, including interviews, observations, virtual reality studies, and more. To learn more about this facility, please visit the website (https://lifehome.ahs.illinois.edu/).
