CREATE PI Dr. Wendy A. Rogers was invited to be a keynote speaker at the Hong Kong International Conference on Gerontechnology 2026. The conference was held on June 23rd at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, under the theme of “Advancing Global Engagement in Novel Gerontechnology”. This event brought together researchers, practitioners, government officials, and entrepreneurs from across the region to discuss current developments and future directions in the field.

Her keynote, titled “Enhancing Social Engagement for Older Adults through Technology”, focused on social technology to reduce loneliness in older adults. Dr. Rogers presented data and examples from research on older adults with cognitive, perceptual, and mobility disabilities.

Dr. Rogers also presented at the Chinese University of Hong Kong about “Exploring human-robot interactions for older adults”. Additionally, she visited the Data Technology Hub and met with the team working on Frontier and Human-centric AI and Robotics Technology for Geriatric Care.

This trip provided Dr. Rogers the opportunity to reconnect with several former lab members in Hong Kong. Tongxin Sun and Zoey Hu, who were visiting scholars at the Human Factors and Aging Lab, presented at the Gerontechnology conference. Qiyuan Cheng, a former graduate student, presented a poster at the conference. They escorted her to a tour to the Hong Kong Art Museum and Hong Kong Island.
